I used to download "blending brushes" off dA but they never really worked, y'know? Then I tried setting the opacity on normal brushes--which worked okay, but not the effect I was looking for.
I find the best way to blend colors is to make a color palette--start with your base color, make a big dot on the corner of your canvas, choose a darker color and then set the opacity of your brush way down low and start layering the colors, like this: [link]
Then simply take your color picker and take a regular hard brush, (like I used in this picture), or a textured brush, (for whatever effect you want), and, I guess, just use the colors as you see fit. xD And if I may point you in the direction of some very helpful tutorials!: [link]
